Tottenham Hotspur could miss out on QPR youngster Eberechi Eze due to Sheffield United’s interest, per The Sun.
What’s the word?
The Blades are said to be interested in the 21-year-old ahead of the January transfer window, with a deal for the forward likely to cost £12m.
Eze has made 24 appearances in the Championship this season, scoring nine goals and registering four assists.
Money talks: How much did Levy pay for each of these Spurs stars?
An England U21 international, Spurs are also said to be interested, per the aforementioned report, and Sheffield United boss Chris Wilder wants his club to move quickly to land him.
Worth paying for
Spurs have the clout to beat the Blades to the punch here.
Eze has been in superb form in the Championship this season, averaging 2.4 shots per game, per WhoScored, along with 1.8 key passes and 3.1 dribbles. He is a handful for defenders and is fouled 2.4 times per game.
He has an excellent pass completion rate of 85.7% too and is clearly a player who is comfortable passing and carrying the ball.
Jose Mourinho’s men, of course, have raided the lower leagues before and struck gold when they managed to bring in Dele Alli from MK Dons for just £5m, with the Englishman going on to score 60 goals and provide a further 52 assists in 203 outings for the north London outfit.
A similar story could unfold here; at £12m Eze would be a bargain and allowing him to move to Bramall Lane would be akin to negligence on Spurs’ part.
They need to get involved.
Meanwhile, Spurs fans have urged the club to sign a young defender.
