According to German newspaper Bild, Celtic are interested in signing Vfl Wolfsburg outcast Jeffrey Bruma, and fans of the Bhoys on Twitter were keen to see him at Parkhead before the window closes.
It has been a tough start to the season for Brendan Rodgers’ men, who beat Livingston on the opening weekend of the Scottish Premiership but lost their second league game to Hearts. Things then got even worse as they were knocked out of the Champions League in the third round of qualifying for the group stage by AEK Athens.
The Hoops will now go into a Europa League playoff against Lithuanian champions FK Suduva and will need to win the tie to ensure at least some European football is played at Celtic Park this season.
Rodgers has so far made four signings this summer, but a centre-back remains a priority after the Glasgow side’s recent weaknesses at the back and the situation that Dedryck Boyata has put himself in.
