Rangers goalkeeper Robby McCrorie is on the brink of joining Championship side Ayr United on loan for the season, according to the Scottish Sun.
What’s the story?
McCrorie impressed last season on loan at Berwick Rangers in League Two and the 20-year-old is now looking to progress with a move to newly-promoted Ayr United.
The young shot stopper played 40 times for Berwick last season, recording eight clean sheets, and was a big winner in the club’s end of season awards, collecting five trophies.
It is now understood that Steven Gerrard will send the 6ft 2 colossus on loan again as he continues to learn his trade.
A good test for the youngster
McCrorie clearly impressed last season and it will be a big step up for the young goalkeeper as he looks to cut his teeth in the Scottish Championship.
He has a lot of potential and with limited first team opportunities at Rangers, this move should allow him to test himself against higher quality opposition, grooming him to take over the number one spot at the Ibrox in the coming seasons.
