What’s the word?
It is reported that the Owls along with Reading, Middlesbrough and Hull City have regularly kept up their presence at the Memorial Stadium with the 25-year-old striker scoring ten times in all competitions for the League One outfit.
Rovers are yet to receive any form of bid for Clarke-Harris with his valuation believed to be exceeding £450k after Grant McCann’s Tigers enquired in the summer.
Martyn Starnes, CEO of the club, has recently accepted that ‘every player has a value’ amidst the rumoured interest while also stating that “if an offer came in for Jonson Clarke-Harris or anybody else in the club we would have to consider what’s in the best interest of the club.”
The former Coventry City forward still has 18 months on his contract after joining on a free transfer from the Sky Blues in January this year, but extension talks have since stalled.
Squad overhaul
Garry Monk will soon have a pressing task on his hands at Wednesday. He currently has the oldest squad in the second-tier while no less than ten first-team players see their contract expire at the end of the season.
What better way to kill two birds with one stone than signing a player with more than half a decade still to go in his prime, one that has scored 21 times this calendar year alone.

The Owls boss likes to play a 4-4-2 formation, so strength is needed in the attack, but it’s clear to see he doesn’t quite fancy Atdhe Nuhiu or Sam Winall as neither have started a match in recent weeks – they are two members that see their contracts up at the end of the season.
Clarke-Harris was thriving under ex-Wednesday centre-back Graham Coughlan, who has now switched Bristol for Mansfield, so maybe a good word can be put in about the club with him no doubt wanting to test himself at the highest level.
Might he be the man to partner top goalscorer Steven Fletcher as their playoff push continues?
Meanwhile, elsewhere at Hillsborough, Garry Monk could be left in a sticky situation if resurgent defender departs…
