In the post-Wenger era, Arsenal have shown that they are not afraid of making big decisions and are willing to cut off players that have failed to perform at the club.
Over the summer, Arsenal made five solid signings and all of the new additions have made an impact on the side. In midfield, Matteo Guendouzi and Lucas Torreira have been the two star performers from the new recruits with the latter, bringing out the best in Arsenal’s error-prone Granit Xhaka.
However, the rebuild at the club is not finished just yet and Mislintat is looking to add some more quality to the side. According to Sport Bild, Arsenal are interested in signing Borussia Dortmund midfielder, Julian Weigl.
The Breakdown
The midfielder announced himself as one of the best young midfielders in Europe during his first season with Dortmund.
He immediately played 30 games in the league and up until this season, he has been an ever-present in the side. This season, however, he has found it hard to break into Lucien Favre’s side after picking up an injury which has allowed new signings, Thomas Delaney and Axel Witsel to cement themselves in the side.
This season he’s only played three games in the league but he still one of the best prospects in Europe.
With Xhaka always liable to a critical error, as illustrated against Wolves, Arsenal need a reliable playmaker who can orchestrate attacks from deep. With Torreira next to him, he could blossom into a star for Arsenal.
